Spot vs Field Goals

Penalty kick and field goals are obviously different. But there is a crucial core difference which has a big message for all sales professionals. (By the way, everyone from parenthood to prayers to politics to professions involve convincing or selling!).

So, what’s the difference I’m talking about...

Well, that is...while in penalty kicks the goal is much easier (the ball spot is fixed, the opposition is minimum and the target is not moving), in field goals, it is all uncertain, difficult and moving.

There are multiple challenges all around you. The ball is moving and so are you, the goal is not clearly visible and you have little time to think.

Same happens in every life and sales situation. only a handful (sales) situations are like a penalty kick where odds are heavily in your favour and the "goal" is almost yours.

Rest all situations are half or less than half chances which need to be worked upon to reach anywhere close to the net. Where lots or work, hard or clever, is required to be done.

And mind you most matches don’t go to the penalties. You better not let them. Because, if they go to penalty shootout, they can go either way, depending heavily on luck on that day at that moment. Not everyone is that lucky all the times! Therefore, work on your field skills.
